On New Yearโ€™s Eve the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Special Operations Division conducted county wide Driving While Intoxicated Saturation Patrols.ย  The purpose of saturation patrols is to reduce impaired drivers on the roadway and create safer roads for the community.

As a result of the saturation patrols, deputies issued eleven (11) citations, four (4) warnings and three (3) Safety Equipment Repair Orders.

Cpl. James Stone arrested Gale Lynn St. John, 45 of Lexington Park, Maryland for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.ย ย  A probable cause search, incident to her arrest, revealed she was in possession of suspected marijuana and smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue.

Driving While Intoxicated Saturation patrols are funded by a National Highway Traffic Administration grant used to reduce impaired driving.ย  For further information regarding saturations patrols or other traffic safety please contact Sgt. Mike Butler at 301-475-4040.ย
