On January 28, at approximately 3:17 p.m., the St. Mary’s Emergency Communication Center broadcast a lookout for a black Dodge truck northbound on Route 235 in the area of St. Johns Road in Hollywood. The lookout further reported the driver was operating the vehicle in a reckless manner, was possibly intoxicated and was transporting an unrestrained child in the vehicle.
Corporal C Safford was in the area and observed the Dodge truck pulled to the shoulder of the road near the intersection of Route 235 and St. Johns Road. Corporal Safford made contact with the driver and observed a minor child not properly restrained. As Cpl. Safford was speaking with the driver, who was identified as Pamela Rose Thompson, 36 of Great Mills, he detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon her breath and person. Deputy M Green arrived on the scene.
Deputy Green also observed Thompson to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon her breath and person. Deputy Green administered the standardized field sobriety test to Thompson. As a result of the test, Thompson was arrested and charged with the failing to properly restrain a child in a seatbelt or child safety seat, reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, and driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol while transporting a minor child.
Thompson is incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending an appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
