On May 24 at approximately 10:32 p.m., Trooper K. Clark was traveling southbound on Route 5, south of Pika Drive inย Waldorf when he observed a black Ford F350 cross the center line two times and stop in the middle of the roadway.
Clark activated his emergency equipment to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.ย Clark made contact with the driver, Claude William Peterman Jr., 52, of Port Tobacco.ย While speaking with Peterman, Clark detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath. Petermanโs speech was slurred.
Peterman was asked to exit his vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety test, which he performed unsatisfactorily.ย Peterman was placed under arrest.
A search incident to arrest revealed a clear, plastic, parsley flake bottle containing PCP.ย Peterman was transported to the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack for initial processing, then he transported to the Charles County Detention Center for further processing.
Peterman received numerous citations and was also charged with PCP possession.
