David Franklin Scruggs Jr.
Prince Frederick, MD – On Jan. 21 Deputy R. Kreps responded to Fairground Road, in Prince Frederick, in response to a suspicious white male going through the dumpster and was pushing a green shopping cart. Upon arrival he located the subject matching the description, David Franklin Scruggs Jr., 41 of North Beach. He asked Scruggs if he had anything illegal on his person and after stating he did not, gave Deputy Kreps permission to search him. Located in his right front pants pocket was a small white pill, identified as Alprazolam. Scruggs was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.
Upon a secondary search at the detention center, two additional pills—a second Alprazolam and an Adderall—were located. Scruggs has been charged with controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession, Alprazolam and CDS Possession, Adderall.
A hearing on the charges Scruggs is facing is tentatively scheduled for April 19 in District Court.
