Ellynne en Pointeย extends heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Frank Kohler of Tall Timbers who was one of the 12 people tragically gunned down and killed by lone gunman Aaron Alexis at the US Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. on Monday, September 16. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Lexington Park.
I would like to call attention to the closing sentences of Kenneth R. Timmerman’s article, “The Real Questions about Benghazi” which ran in theย Commentaryย section ofย The Washington Timesย on September 19:
Mr. Timmerman quotes the father of former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods – whose request to rescue Ambassador Stevens was denied three times that night โ who is retired lawyer Charles Woods; he told a Citizens Commission on Benghazi on Monday, September 16, “This is the first time in our history that the military hasn’t come to the rescue when called. There are only two people who can issue an order to stand down, to not rescue. It would have to be either the secretary of defense, or the president. Only one of those two.”
Hillary Clinton is in the news yet again as a possible Democratic candidate for President in 2016. And again I point out that during the
2010 presidential race, she mocked Obama as being unprepared to handle an emergency phone call atย 3 a.m.ย Ask not for whom the phone rang, Madame Secretary: it rang for both of you; and four Americans died. The families of those four Americans – along with the American public – deserve better than the weak and ever-changing explanations weโve been given.
And why do I keep bringing up the Benghazi issue in this column? My stepdaughter teaches English in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi was one of the embassies ordered to be closed down in August when the airports went on โhigh aler.t. She flew back to Abu Dhabi from the U.S. during the alert as her 30 days ofย โsummer breakโย in the U.S. had come to an end. If there had been an incident while that embassy was closed would she have been safe? Will she be safe evenย now thatย the embassyย has re-opened? Millions of Americans are asking the same questions, fearing for their loved ones in the Middle East. We should be assured that our Commander-in-Chief is just as concernedย as we are,<!–
