Corporal Mujahid Ramzziddin

HOLLYWOOD, MDย – Corporal Mujahid Ramzziddin was laid to rest Feb. 23 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood. Ramzziddin was fatally shot Wednesday, Feb. 21 while trying to help a neighbor during a domestic dispute. Glenn Tyndell (pictured right), the 37-year-old estranged husband of Cpl. Ramzziddin’s neighbor, shot the off-duty veteran police officer five times during the confrontation. Police say Tyndell took Cpl. Ramzziddin’s weapon and fled the scene in a black SUV. Tyndell was killedย  short time later by two Prince George’sย  County Officers following a chase and shootout in Fort Washington.ย 

In practice with Cpl. Ramzziddin’s Muslim beliefs, burial was scheduled within 48 hours of his death. Family, friends and citizens who wished to pay respects gathered at the Diyanet Center of America in Lanham for an Islamic prayer service. Governor Larry Hogan was among the mourners who attended. The service was followed by aย  modest funeral procession to a private internment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.

Cpl. Ramzziddin was a Marine Corps Veteran and 14-year veteran of the Prince George’s County Police Department. He leaves behind a wife and four children. His son, Eric Tyler honored him at his funeral, “Without hesitation, my dad went out there to assist that young lady…Today, my dad is a hero.”.
