A Huntingtown family is homeless after their home located in the 1100 Block of Plum Point Road was damaged by a house fire on March 9 around 1:44 p.m.
Over 30 firefighters from Huntingtown, Prince Frederick, Dunkirk and North Beach VFD’s responded to the blaze at the two story single family home owned by Dave and Lisa Donor.
Investigation revealed the fire was contained to the living room of the first floor of the dwelling. The fire originated near the fireplace due to improperly discarded ashes from the wood stove.
The family has been displaced due to the fire, and is being assisted by friends.
Smoke alarms were present and fully operational.
Damage is estimated to be around $85,000.00
