PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Prince Frederick man is facing drug and traffic charges after deputies found him unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle stopped in the roadway, according to court documents.
Barry Jeremiah Parran, 58, of Prince Frederick, Maryland, was arrested May 2, 2026, after deputies responded to Arthur King Road for a report of a driver slumped over in a vehicle.
When deputies arrived, they located a gray GMC Yukon stopped in the middle of the road with Parran in the driver’s seat. After several attempts, deputies were able to wake him, according to the report.
Investigators said Parran showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, glassy eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. He also had difficulty maintaining his balance when exiting the vehicle.
Authorities attempted to conduct field sobriety testing, but Parran did not comply and was taken into custody. During a search, deputies reported finding a torn plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in his pocket.
Parran was also issued multiple traffic citations, including allegations related to impaired driving, negligent driving, and operating a vehicle without proper registration or a valid license.
He is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Parran was initially held without bond following his arrest. A bail review hearing was held May 4, 2026, before Judge Michelle R. Saunders in Calvert District Court.
A trial is set for June 18, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
Under Maryland law, possession of a controlled dangerous substance carries a potential penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000, while possession of drug paraphernalia is punishable by additional fines.
