On Dec. 21, at 5:33 p.m., St. Mary’s Sheriff Deputy S. Ruest responded to the Family Dollar in Leonardtown for the report of a theft.
Investigation revealed Bellamy C. Hinz, 34 of Leonardtown ,entered the business, removed merchandise from its packaging and concealed the items in a plastic bag. Hinz then attempted to exit the store without rendering payment for the items.
Hinz was located in a nearby business, placed under arrest, charged with theft under $100 and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner
