Letโs start by calling the law of the land by its proper name – the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Thatโs what the new law is intended to provide – health care from wellness and preventative services to doctorsโ care to hospital care to ongoing support for family and individuals– at a price you can afford.
With all the political shouting back and forth, many of us are confused about what ACA is and what it means to us and our families. We know required registration began on October 1, but before we decide to sign on, weโd like real answers to our real questions, such as:
- Iโm on Medicare; do I need to sign up?
- My employer provides medical coverage; do I have to sign up?
- How much do I have to pay for ACA coverage?
- Whatโs covered? Whatโs not?
- Are there caps? Co-pays? Limits?
- Are prescriptions covered?
- What if I canโt afford the cost?
- Iโm young and healthy; why should I sign up?
To get the real answers to these questions and others you may have, come to a free briefing led by Michael Shaw of Calvert Health Care Solutions on Thursday, October 10 from 7-9 p.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Churchโs Family Life Center, 105 Vianney Lane, Prince Frederick.
Our panel of experts includes: Carolyn Quattrocki, Exec. Dir. of the governors office of Health Care Reform; Dr.Lawrence Polsky, Chief Public Health Officer of Calvert County; Scott Intner VP of Calvert Memorial Hospital; and Jon Frank, a benefits expert.
A โmeet and greetโ with panel members will be held from 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM.
This event is free and open to the public.
