Marbury, MD – A New Year’s Eve fire that totally destroyed a Charles County home remains under investigation, state officials reported Jan. 4. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze, which occurred on Satterfield Place in Marbury, was discovered by neighbors and reported a half-hour before the new year began. Sixty firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm fire. It took crews three hours to bring the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Total damage to the structure and contents of the three-story home is estimated at $700,000. Investigators reported they have not pinpointed the area of the house where the fire originated.

The fire marshal identified the homeowner as Melisa Fletcher. The displaced family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
