Lexington Park, MD – Firefighters in St. Maryโ€™s County responded to a call at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22. Crews arrived at a house on North Essex Drive in Lexington Park with fire showing. Firemen searched the house but did not locate anyone inside.ย 

The fire marshal was called to scene and it was determined that a candle had been left burning in the living room. โ€œThere was extensive damage to the living room area and heavy smoke throughout the rest of the house,โ€ a report from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department stated. โ€œWhile wrapping up after the fire was extinguished a call went out for a cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) call just a couple of houses away from the fire.โ€

Fire crews then went to assist emergency medical personnel with the CPR.
