CHAPTICO, Md. – Fire crews responded late Friday night to a structure fire at a vacant two-story home in Chaptico, with authorities now investigating the cause as possible arson.
The fire was reported at 10:54 PM on February 14, 2025, at a property on Maddox Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the flames had already burned out, but evidence of fire was visible on all sides of the building.
Fire officials requested assistance from law enforcement and the State Fire Marshal’s Office to investigate the circumstances of the blaze. According to dispatch, only one call was made to 911 by a passerby who saw the fire while driving by.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause remains under investigation.
