Prince Frederick, MD — “Today is our first Annual Festival of Wreaths, and it is a coming together to support Calvert Hospice through wreaths that people have donated to us,” said Executive Director of Calvert Hospice Jean Fleming.

Saturday, Nov.19, Calvert Hospice held their first Annual Festival of Wreaths at the College of Southern Maryland Prince Frederick Campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Many of the wreaths sold quickly, all the proceeds going back to support Calvert Hospice.

“This is an opportunity for the community to come together, to create wreaths, and then to build memories for people they (community) care about,” said Fleming.

Patrons had the opportunity to participate in a wreath-making workshop, visit with Santa and purchase a hand-crafted festive wreath to support Calvert Hospice.

Calvert Hospice was also offering memorial poinsettias; the guest had the pleasure of having local musician provide entertainment throughout the day.

Fleming ends the interview with just how important the community is to their overall goal.

“The community is incredibly important to this organization because without the community support we can’t exist,” said Fleming.
