UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A Prince George’s County jury on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, found Amir Johnson, a Bowie resident and former social studies teacher at Parkdale High School in Riverdale, not guilty on seven counts of sexual abuse of a minor, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict on one additional count, resulting in a mistrial. Prosecutors said they will reevaluate whether to pursue that charge.

Johnson, who was represented by defense attorney Andrew Jezic of Jezic & Moyse LLC, was initially arrested on June 29, 2025, after warrants were issued three days earlier. Court records show he was held without bond before being released on his own recognizance following Friday’s verdict. A judge ordered that Johnson have no contact with the victim as a condition of release.

Prosecutors alleged that Johnson had sexual encounters with a minor between January and April 2025.

“We are disappointed in the verdict,” State’s Attorney Tara Jackson said in a statement. “Teachers hold a unique position of trust and responsibility in shaping and protecting our children, and any allegation that violates that trust is taken very seriously by this office. We remain committed to thoroughly investigating and prosecuting cases that involve the safety and well-being of children.”

Because of the victim’s age and the nature of the allegations, no additional details will be released.
