LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Get ready for a high-energy, laugh-out-loud, heart-tugging ride as “Freaky Friday: The Musical” takes over Three Notch Theatre now through Aug. 3.
Presented by The Newtowne Players and based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, “Freaky Friday” follows an overworked mother and her strong-willed teenage daughter who magically swap bodies. With just one day to reverse the spell, the two must navigate each other’s daily lives — leading to comic chaos, unexpected lessons and a deeper understanding of the unbreakable bond they share.

With a catchy pop-rock score by Tony and Pulitzer winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (“Next to Normal,” “If/Then”) and a clever book by Bridget Carpenter (“Parenthood,” “Friday Night Lights”), “Freaky Friday” delivers nonstop laughs, big musical numbers and touching moments that resonate with audiences of all ages.
Whether you’re a longtime theatergoer, a Disney fan or simply looking for a feel-good night out, “Freaky Friday” offers something for everyone — humor, heart and a whole lot of music.
