HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — A 35-year-old Huntingtown man is facing an assault charge after a road rage incident in which he allegedly blocked another driver with his vehicle and threatened to “put a bullet in his head” over a speeding complaint.

The incident occurred on Friday, July 25, 2025, on Soper Road. According to the statement of probable cause, the 20-year-old male victim and his girlfriend were leaving their driveway when a neighbor, identified as Christopher Michael Simon, made a U-turn and began following them aggressively, waving his hands and swerving.

The victim told the Maryland State Police trooper that he stopped his truck, thinking Simon was trying to alert him to a mechanical problem. Instead, Simon allegedly passed him, used his Buick Envision to block the road and approached the victim’s driver-side window yelling profanities. The victim and his girlfriend both stated that Simon aggressively put his index finger to the victim’s forehead and threatened multiple times to put a bullet in his head. The girlfriend added that Simon said, “this was not a threat, it was a promise.” Both victims told the trooper they feared for their lives and felt they were unable to leave.

When questioned by the trooper, Simon admitted to following and blocking the victim’s vehicle because he was concerned about the victim driving at a high rate of speed on a road where his children play. Simon admitted to yelling and using profanity but denied touching or threatening the victim.

Simon has been charged with one count of second-degree assault. Under Maryland law, the misdemeanor charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $2,500. Court records show a summons was served on July 30, 2025, and a preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2025, in Calvert District Court.

  1. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” something most people these days fail to practice.

Karma has a surprising way of taking care of situations. All you have to do is sit back and watch.
