NORTH BEACH, Md. — A Calvert County man has been charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses after deputies stopped his vehicle in North Beach and allegedly discovered controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and a concealed weapon, according to charging documents.
David Eliathan Brenton, 45, of Owings, was arrested on Dec. 12, 2025, following a traffic stop in the area of 5th Street and Madison Avenue.
A Calvert County sheriff’s deputy observed a white Chrysler committing traffic violations and initiated a stop. The deputy determined Brenton was driving with a suspended license and placed him under arrest.
Charging documents state that deputies searched the vehicle and located pills identified as Clonazepam, a Schedule IV controlled substance, along with drug paraphernalia. Investigators also reported finding a butterfly knife and throwing stars, which they said were concealed.
Brenton was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not including cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon. Court records indicate probable cause was found for the concealed weapon charge.
Brenton was released on his own recognizance following his arrest. A trial scheduling hearing is set for Jan. 28, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
