Garage Fire Contained In Waldorf; No Injuries Reported

WALDORF, Md. — Firefighters quickly contained a blaze Thursday, October 16, 2025, in the attached garage of a Waldorf home, preventing it from spreading and leaving no injuries, though a family of six was displaced.

The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. in the 4700 block of Sheffield Circle. Crews from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and neighboring stations arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home’s garage.

Engine 32 arrived first and declared a working fire, prompting a full response of engines, trucks, and rescue units. Firefighters advanced a hose line and contained the blaze to the garage area under the direction of Chief 1B Godwin, who held command of the incident.

All occupants had evacuated prior to firefighters’ arrival and were accounted for. Searches by Squad 2 and Truck 1 confirmed no one was inside the residence, and no fire extension was found beyond the garage.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist three adults and three children displaced by the fire. Crews ventilated the home to remove smoke and secured the electrical system before clearing the scene.

The fire was brought under control by 5:10 p.m. Engine 32 and Truck 1 remained on site awaiting the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
