SEVERN, Md. – On November 29, 2020, at approximately 4:05 p.m. officers responded to the area of Queenstown Road and Ayrshire Court in Severn Maryland for a single vehicle collision involving an ATV.

A four wheeled ATV was travelling eastbound in the roadway when the driver Charles Burnell Dailey, 28 of Pasadena, lost control of the ATV. The ATV began to rotate and ejected both riders. The driver, who remained conscious, called 911 for assistance. The female passenger Karen Joyce Herrera Roces, 28 of Glen Burnie, sustained critical injuries and was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore City for treatment.

As a result of injuries sustained in this collision, the female passenger died of her injuries On November 30, 2020 at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore City. The male driver declined treatment at the scene from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Preliminarily, the primary cause of this crash is driver error and speed. Alcohol or drug use do not appear to be a contributing factor in this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the collision investigation.
