On Friday, Feb. 6 at approximately 5:30 p.m. authorities received a call about a single car in a ditch. The car apparently left the road, clipped more than one tree in the sharp turn area of Flat Iron Road near Shady Drive in Great Mills.
When police arrived, they discovered a 2006 white Scion TC had crashed and that people were trapped inside the vehicle. Units from Bay District and Valley Lee responded along with rescue units from Lexington Park and extricated the passengers. One patient, the vehicle’s driver, signed a refusal and the other two victims were rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital by Valley Lee units.
During the extraction process, fire units on the scene reported that Flat Iron Road was jammed up with traffic. The rescue and transport kept the traffic jammed for about 30 minutes before clearing the scene.
