St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office Corporal Kristi Nelson, school resourceย deputy,ย was alerted on Monday to students who were flashing paper currency in the hallway of Great Mills High School. After contacting the students, Corporal Nelson learnedย each of themย had sold a cellular telephone to another student. The cash the student used toย pay for the phones was determined to be counterfeit.
The suspectย who purchased the phones was identified as a 15 year old female, ofย Lexington Park. The student was arrested yesterday by Corporal Nelson and charged with 3 COUNTS Possession Counterfeit Currency and 3 COUNTS of Theft Under $1,000. She was also charged with Fraud stemming from a separate investigation involving the use of a cell phone and credit card belonging to a relative. The suspect was processed and released to the custody of her parents pending her appearance in juvenile court.
Additional cases, involving the same suspect, are continuing to be investigated.ย
