CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. — On March 29th, St. Mary’s County hosted a virtual groundbreaking ceremony for the relocation of the North County Farm Market. The new location at Thompson Corner Road will reduce the traffic congestion that commonly occurred at its current location by the Charlotte Hall Library. This new 15-acre site will also be adjacent to the Three Notch Trail making it the perfect location for visitors to enjoy a hike and then shop at the market.
In a virtual ceremony, St. Mary’s County Administrator Dr. Rebecca Bridget enthusiastically explained the beneficial details that the relocation provides.
“The site is envisioned as a multi-use site that will accommodate a value-added market structure,” Bridget said. “A new produce market structure, a trail extension linking to the market site, parking, and public restrooms facilities that’ll serve the market, the market facilities, and the trail users as well.”

St. Mary’s County Commissioner Eric Colvin [R-District 1] said he is also excited to see the success this new market location will have.
“The North County Farm Market is going to be an awesome facility that will be able to showcase the incredible products produced here in St. Mary’s County,” Colvin said. “The tie-in to the Three Notch Trail will make it a destination venue, great for farmers, residents, and visitors!”
They are hopeful to have the new site completed by summer so everyone can enjoy the benefits of the new location. This revamped market will also include a classroom, retail space, and more thanks to the new value-added structure which will be available to the region.
