PORT REPUBLIC, Md. — A Delaware man was arrested early Monday, July 21, 2025, after slamming his vehicle into a guardrail on Route 4 in Port Republic, leaving the car mangled but the driver uninjured.
The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. near Broomes Island Road. Emergency crews arrived to find a black Toyota Camry that had veered off the southbound side of the highway and struck a guardrail with such force that the steel beam pierced through the front windshield and extended out the back of the vehicle.

The driver, 64-year-old Chijioke Ebo of Delaware, was alone in the car and declined medical treatment at the scene.
Maryland State Police arrested Ebo on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was taken to the Prince Frederick Barrack for processing. Investigators say speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
No other vehicles were involved.
The investigation is ongoing.

That is a very lucky individual
yep, the drunk very seldom gets hurt
So, a Camry with Bayside PFred stickers has Virginia tags and driven by a Delaware man? Seems a little fishy.
The question should be … did the guard rail fail its engineering component , or is it incorrectly engineered ? Doesn’t seem like this is how the guard should work.
This needs more looking into ..
