RIDGE, Md. — A Waldorf man remains held without bond after investigators allege he violated the terms of pretrial release by entering a restricted area in Ridge and removing his GPS ankle monitor.
Christopher Lawrence Robinson, 29, of Waldorf, was charged July 7, 2026, with two counts of second-degree escape related to conditions of release.
According to charging documents, Robinson was subject to a Level 2 pretrial release agreement in a Charles County case. The agreement required him to wear a GPS monitor, obey all laws and immediately notify pretrial supervision if anything happened to the device.
His movement was also restricted to areas outside Ridge, court documents state.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. July 7, the St. Mary’s County Pretrial Division reportedly received an alert showing Robinson had entered Ridge while traveling on a public bus.
Investigators tracked the bus to a stop near St. Michael’s School on Three Notch Road. Robinson allegedly got off the bus and walked to a residence in the 49400 block of Portneys Overlook Road.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., pretrial officials received another alert indicating Robinson’s GPS monitor had been removed near Bennet Court and Bennet Drive.
A deputy later saw Robinson walking near the Portneys Overlook Road residence but reported he left the area before police could stop him.
The homeowner allegedly told investigators Robinson had been inside the residence but left shortly after arriving. Occupants would not allow deputies to search the home, charging documents state.
Investigators alleged Robinson never contacted the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center after the monitor was removed.
An arrest warrant was issued July 7 and served July 12.
Court records show Robinson was first presented for a bail review July 13 in Prince George’s County District Court, where Judge Clayton Aarons ordered him held without bond.
He was later transferred to St. Mary’s County, where Judge John P. Morrissey continued the no-bond status during a July 15 hearing.
A trial is scheduled for Aug. 13, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court.
