HOLLYWOOD, Md. — Today, Sept. 4, family and friends are celebrating the 100th birthday of Gloria Marie Tippett, a woman whose century-long journey has been defined by love, faith and devotion to family.
Though small in stature, Gloria’s presence has always filled every room. Known for her radiant smile, her warm spirit and her signature laugh — described by loved ones as a joyful “cackle” — she has brought happiness to generations of family and friends.
Born in 1925, Gloria raised six children, became the grandmother of 14, and today enjoys more than 25 great-grandchildren. Her life of faith and service has been a guiding force for her family, from nurturing her children to caring for her mother, Agnes Taylor, who herself lived past 100.
Gloria and her husband, Joe Tippett, shared decades of love and adventure, traveling across the United States and Europe. But it was on Tippett Road in Hollywood, Md., overlooking Nats Creek, where they built their home and their legacy. Family memories were made around the table with Gloria’s fresh cherry waffles, steamed crabs and the sounds of laughter and music echoing through the house.
Her family describes her as a loving, caring and steadfast woman whose generosity and joyful outlook have been a constant source of inspiration. Gloria’s love of music and dancing continues to shine as part of her spirit, a reminder that life is meant to be lived with joy.
As Gloria celebrates this milestone surrounded by her large and loving family, she stands as a living testament to resilience, faith and the power of love.
