Callaway, MD — St. Mary’s County emergency personnel received a call at shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 for a head-on collision involving entrapment on Leonardtown Road at Aster Lane in Callaway. Volunteers from Bay District and Valley Lee and EMS personnel from Valley Lee and Lexington Park quickly accessed the scene and requested a helicopter.
Due to the extensive entrapment it took more than a dozen volunteers more than 30 minutes to remove the patient and then prepare for transport to a trauma center. The St. Mary’s Sherriff Office remained on the scene performing accident reconstruction until the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
