
Henry “Hank” Michael Gannon, 76, of Bryantown, MD, passed away on April 21, 2026. On October 20, 1949, Hank was born in Washington, DC, to the late Charles and Leland Gannon.
For more than two years, Hank served honorably in the United States Army, specializing as a helicopter technician in Vietnam. Throughout his military career, he received numerous accolades, such as the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Hank worked for the Federal Government for 30 years and retired as a warehouse manager for the Department of the Air Force.
On July 11, 1975, Hank married the love of his life, Ida. He proudly gained four stepchildren: Brenda Teutsch (David) of La Plata, MD, John Sweeney (Susan) of Waldorf, MD, Jeffrey Sweeney (Louise) of Bryans Road, MD, and Robert Sweeney, who predeceased his stepfather.
Hank cherished moments with his family, enjoyed attending Blue Crabs baseball games as a season ticket holder, and relished dining at his favorite restaurant, Napoli’s. He was an exceptional locksmith with an extensive collection of tools and hardware. Additionally, he had a passion for hunting and frequently embarked on adventures to West Virginia.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, cherished wife, and stepson. He is survived by his stepchildren, brother Charles Gannon from Manassas, VA, and grandchildren: Michael Sweeney, Carey Richmond, Bobby Wyatt, Shannon Wyatt, Hillary Sweeney, Katie Sheldon, Jeffrey Sweeney, and Stacey Sweeney, along with many great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Rosemarie Moore (Douglas), cousin Melvin Fones, and his friends, the Parker family.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the service beginning at 11:00 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will follow after the service at 1:00 pm at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
