On Nov. 11, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to Harrison Street in Great Mills and began an investigation into hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
On Nov.12, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Traffic Safety Unit, identified the striking vehicle, 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and operator, 21 year old male from Lexington Park.
The male pedestrian, 65 of Great Mills, was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he is listed in critical condition.
The Sheriff’s Office is consulting with the St. Mary’s County States Attorney’s Office, charges are pending. “The operator has not been charged and he is not currently in custody,” stated Cpl. Cindy Allen.
