On Nov. 11, the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to Harrison Street in Great Mills and began an investigation into hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

On Nov.12, the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Traffic Safety Unit, identified the striking vehicle, 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck and operator, 21 year old male from Lexington Park.

The male pedestrian, 65 of Great Mills, was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he is listed in critical condition.

The Sheriffโ€™s Office is consulting with the St. Maryโ€™s County States Attorneyโ€™s Office, charges are pending. “The operator hasย not been charged and he isย not currently in custody,” stated Cpl. Cindy Allen.

The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office wishes to thank the public for their prompt response and assistance in this investigation.
