
LA PLATA, Md. — Two people were injured Friday morning in a multi-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle near Crain Highway and Mitchell Road in La Plata.
Emergency crews were dispatched shortly before 9 a.m. July 24, 2026, after multiple callers reported a motorcyclist down in the roadway.
A 20-year-old patient suffered open fractures and serious injuries. A medevac was requested, and Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 flew the patient to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
A 74-year-old man was transported by ambulance to UM Charles Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Portions of Crain Highway were temporarily closed near Rockwick Road and Turkey Hill Road while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
This was the second serious motorcycle crash reported in Charles County on Friday, following an earlier crash in Waldorf.
