
Lusby, MD – A house fire in Calvert County Thursday evening, Feb. 16 resulted in the precautionary transport of two residents, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, damage to the two-story, single-family dwelling located on Lisa Lane in Lusby totals $350,000. The fire was discovered and reported by an occupant of the home around 9:18 p.m.
โThe accidental fire was the result of residue, which had collected in the exterior chimney pipe, igniting and extending into the residence,โ a deputy state fire marshal reported. โTwo adult occupants were transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital as a medical precaution. They were checked and released.
Sixty firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze and brought it under control in 20 minutes. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross. The owner occupants were identified by the fire marshalโs office as Bobby and Eunice Newsome.
