WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today announcing that Maya Valentine has been promoted to Maryland Press Secretary:
“I’m pleased to announce that Maya Valentine has been promoted to the position of Maryland Press Secretary,” said Congressman Hoyer. “Maya has served on my staff since 2019 as the Press Assistant on my communications team. In her time working on my staff, she has been committed to understanding and addressing the priorities of the Fifth District. I am glad that she will continue working to amplify my efforts for constituents and local press during this critical time.”
Since June 2019, Maya Valentine has served as the Press Assistant and Researcher in Congressman Hoyer’s leadership office. Previously she was a communications intern for Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s internship program. Maya also serves as the Communications Director for the Congressional Black Associates, a Congressional staff association on Capitol Hill. Maya graduated from the Gwen Ifill College of Media, Arts, and Humanities at Simmons University in Boston, MA, with a B.A. in Public Relations, Marketing Communications, and Journalism in 2019.
