U.S. Congressman Steny Hoyer

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) released the following statement today after President Biden signed an executive order that protects access to reproductive health care:

“Today’s executive order shows that the American people have a President who takes swift action to protect women’s reproductive choice.”

“While this executive order is important and will help women access reproductive health care where they need it and maintain privacy, in truth there is very little that the President can do on his own to address the dangers posed by the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson.”

“It is up to Congress to take meaningful action by enacting laws that guarantee reproductive freedom in all states and territories of our union.  That’s what the House did when we passed the Women’s Health Protection Act last year – and we will do so again next week with an updated version of that bill.”

“I will also bring to the House Floor next week the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, to make it possible and safe for women needing abortion care to travel to states where it is accessible.”

“I urge the Senate to act without delay and join the House in taking action to protect women’s reproductive choice in the wake of the extremist and precedent-ignoring Dobbs v. Jackson ruling.”

  1. Hoyer is so full of it, I bet his eyes are brown. Why does he feel the need to support a buffoon of a president? Oh I know why he is just like him

  2. As always, the mealy-mouthed phrases give away the dark, decepticon intent: “Reproductive health,” “reproductive choice.” Hoyer, you have attached your name to those who would butcher and dismember their own children. You have firmly attached yourself to the culture of death. Be ashamed of yourself, repent, and reverse your actions while you still can.

  3. I hope this isnt more “token” statements for votes like the previous ones from the president and Vice President concerning the criminal turn women in for reward if they go for abortion Law in texas and the do nothing statement about shortage of baby formula. The miserable tell blatant lies republicans are ahead of the democrats’ lies and are destroying what was America. Both parties need to do what the majority of voters want we pay them. I know the voters cant pay them millions that corporations give them to take care of their agenda
Or what they owe the left or right leaning crazies or militant crazy supposed christians. the majority of americans are apathetic and will do nothing. american women it appears are joining also. Things will only get worse no matter what political party gets to continue destroying our country.

  4. its actually roe v. wade\ doe v. bolton\ planned parenthood v casey. Anyway, no, the right- to- life movement should not let its guard down. The right to life movement may be pleased that abortion has reverted- back to state laws, but not happy that, in many states, the procedure is still legal. Maryland\ DC\ Virginia didn’t blink an eye, everyone was still buying bubble gum as usual. An industry that kills, an industry that is into killing, an industry that is about killing (a dead baby) doesn’t want to be killed, itself. Even the innocent ones that go into abortion, are expecting (and want?) a dead baby at the end. Thats the definition of abortion, isn’t it? A dead baby at the end?

  5. Too little too late for many reasons!!! Again, this should not have happened with a majority Democratic-run government in DC. TERM LIMITS are needed to get the clowns out who have sat too long on their own thrones of self-importance. This includes you Steny and Nancy Pelosi!!!! You all should take a page out of Boris Johnson’s book and step down before you fall down!!

  6. He’s a democratic congressman who stands side by side with the speaker and neither have done anything for this country and certainly misrepresents the people of Maryland
