Authorities are investigating an incident involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) parked at a residence on Greenwood Drive in Waldorf.ย  According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the owner of the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban contacted police Monday, Aug. 20 around 6:37 a.m. after discovering that all four tires and rims on the vehicle had been removed and stolen.

โ€œFurther investigation revealed that there was also an attempt to set fire to the SUV,โ€ stated Dfm. Don Brenneman.

Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Department investigators contacted the fire marshalโ€™s office and requested an investigation into the attempted arson. Brenneman said the attempted arson originated at the vehicleโ€™s gasoline cap.

No one was injured and damage to the SUV is estimated at $2,000.
