On December 5, the Civista Health Foundationโs Christmas Tree of Life will shine brilliantly at Civista Medical Center and remain illuminated throughout the holiday season.ย Each year, the Foundation selects a community member to serve as our Honorary Tree Lighter. The Foundation will be honored to have LaPlata business owner Josh Joson lighting our tree in memory of his late wife Lisa who passed away in August after a courageous battle with cancer.
Each sparkling light on the tree honors an individual, living or deceased, who has touched our lives.ย While many choose to memorialize family and friends, others select a teacher, mentor, co-worker or loved one to honor.ย Some community organizations use this program to acknowledge their club as a whole or to memorialize past members of their organizations.
There are two types of lights on the tree.ย A donation of $15 will secure a single light on the tree in honor or in memory of an individual, business or a community organization.ย Donors also can make a one-time gift of $100 which will illuminate a special โangelโ perpetual light.ย The angels acknowledge these lifetime gifts each holiday season and the honorees’ name will be acknowledged in the program this year and every year in the future.
New this year, the Foundation is offering a seasonal luminary for a donation of $50 that will be displayed in the hospital’s Healing Garden on campus and will remain illuminated throughout the holiday season.ย
The Foundation acknowledges the names of all donors and their honorees in a special program booklet.ย In addition, each donor will receive a keepsake acknowledgement card to share with honorees or family and friends of the deceased.
The Foundation invites the community to attend the illumination ceremony on Wednesday, December 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the front entrance of the Medical Center on Garrett Avenue in LaPlata.ย Following the ceremony, guests enjoy holiday refreshments and festive music.
There are several ways to make your gift and have a light or an angel shine in honor or in memory of your loved one(s).ย Donors can complete and fax (301-934-0384) the form found in the Maryland Independent or make a gift online securely through the Foundation website www.civista.org/foundation.htm or call the Foundation 301-609-4132.ย The Foundation must receive all gifts no later than Wednesday November 28 to be included in the commemorative program
