La Plata, MD – Charles County Circuit Court Judge H. James West granted a motion by Charles County Assistant Stateโ€™s Attorney Frank Granados Thursday, June 23, issuing an order that Daniel Raymond Posey III, 24 of Nanjemoy, shall not communicate with anybody but his attorneys.

The ruling came after a June 14 hearing at which Granados charged that Posey was calling witnesses in the case from the Charles County Detention Center telling them not to show up for court to testify against him in the murder case.

Granados also alleged that Posey attempted to bribe at least two witnesses to not testify.

โ€œJudge West issued an order,โ€ Charles County States Attorney Tony Covington said. โ€œHe found good cause to show that Mr. Posey was using detention center phones and computers to tamper with witnesses.

โ€œThe order states that Mr. Posey shall not communicate with anybody but his attorneys,โ€ he added. โ€œHe authorized the detention center to accentuate the order. He is to have no contact with any other folks.โ€

Posey was indicted February 2015 for the August 2011 murder of 29-year-old Crystal Keyona Anderson. Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office.ย

Detective John Elliott, lead investigator on the case, said they are still hopeful that people who were at a Nanjemoy partyโ€”the last place Crystal was seen aliveโ€”would step forward with more information.

Elliott said Crystal was last seen leaving the party with Posey on the night she disappeared.

โ€œThey did know each other,โ€ he asserted.

Police say robbery was the apparent motive in the crime.
