SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — A new family resort is rising just across the Potomac, bringing a major all-in-one getaway close to Southern Maryland. Kalahari Resorts is building its latest location in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, with a grand opening planned for fall 2026. The $900 million project will feature hotel suites, an indoor and outdoor water park, adventure park, a full-service spa, and more — all under one roof.
Set on 135 acres between U.S. Route 1 and Interstate 95 near the Thornburg exit, the resort will become home to the largest indoor water park in Virginia. It’s located just over an hour’s drive from some Southern Maryland communities.

Built for Year-Round Fun
The resort’s 175,000-square-foot indoor water park will include high-speed slides, wave pools, lazy rivers, and attractions designed for all ages. During the warmer months, a 10-acre outdoor water park will add even more space for families to splash and enjoy.
For those seeking fun beyond the water, the resort will feature Tom Foolerys Adventure Park, offering indoor activities that include mini golf, ropes courses, zip lines, laser tag, bowling and more than 250 arcade games.
Kalahari will have more than 900 guest rooms and suites, offering a range of accommodations for families, couples, and groups planning weekend getaways or vacations.
Various dining and beverage venues will be available, offering a range of options from casual snacks to full-service meals. Dining will also be integrated into the water park itself, featuring a swim-up bar that offers food and drinks poolside.

New Fun for Southern Maryland
The Kalahari Virginia location will give local families, school groups, and friends new choices for fun close to home. With construction underway and the opening targeted for fall 2026, the resort adds to the growing list of places Southern Marylanders can enjoy.
