WALDORF, Md. — Firefighters knocked down a townhouse kitchen fire on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, in the 3900 block of Northgate Place after callers reported a microwave ablaze and flames spreading to nearby cabinets.

Crews responded at approximately 1:20 p.m. for a reported single-family dwelling fire and upgraded to a working incident minutes later. First-arriving units found active fire on the first floor of a middle-of-the-row, multi-family home and began a primary search and interior attack.

Firefighters reported the blaze contained to the kitchen area, with conditions improving by 1:32 p.m. and the fire declared out with no extension at 1:38 p.m. Utilities were secured, and the home was ventilated.

The residents evacuated before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

SMECO was notified, and the state fire marshal consulted by phone determined an in-person response was not required.

Command was terminated and units returned to service around 2:05 p.m.

  1. I’m glad you’ve shown pictures of the guys that fought the fire, but we do NOT need pictures of the fire trucks though.
