La Plata High School hockey club maintained its winning record by defeating the Annapolis High School hockey club by a score of 8 – 0, Friday, Jan. 7 at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf.
Spectators witnessed two of La Plata’s players, freshman Lucas Ethington, #95 and junior Travis Reece, #99, scoring three goals each. It was Ethington’s first hat trick and Reece’s second of the season. Reece leads the Southern Conference in goals with a total of 24. Freshman Mikey Awdakimow, #21 and junior Greg Garner, #5, each contributed a goal to the team’s victory.
La Plata’s defensive players all played outstanding in assisting their team goalie, Daniel “DJ” Dunlevy, #1, to his first regular season game shut out. La Plata’s defenseman Taylor McFadden, #91, was awarded the team’s game MVP puck.
