House of Dance owner, Donna Jordan has completed renovation of the old Hollywood Fire House – the third incarnation for the landmark building located on Rt. 235 in Hollywood. With its completion she has brought forth a beautiful testament of her vision.
The building, which formerly housed fire trucks and hoses – followed by an amusement/game facility, now welcomes dancers of all ages, styles and disciplines with gleaming hardwood floors and multiple dance studios. Donna, along with her husband, naval aviator Brian Jordan, has wrestled an ugly beast of a building into a soaring hall dedicated to the art of dance, filled with light and possibilities and is celebrating that accomplishment with a lavish Open House for Southern Maryland residents on Saturday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The House of Dance is located at 24620 Three Notch Road in Hollywood. The large main ballroom with its high ceiling is suitable not only for dance classes, but also public events like the monthly HOD Dance Nights which will return in September. This popular night of ballroom dance features a one hour class to acquaint even beginners with the featured dance style, followed by an evening of music and dancing. For anyone who watches popular TV dance programs like “Dancing With The Stars” it’s an opportunity to get off the couch and learn one of the fastest growing pastimes in America – Ballroom dancing! The two smaller dance studios are home to a variety of dance style instruction from Creative Movement classes for toddlers – to classical ballet and tap – to lively Zumba classes, Belly Dancing and more!
Donna Jordan states that, “Whatever dance style we teach, we want it to be completely authentic and taught by instructors who are tops in their individual disciplines.” Southern Maryland residents are invited to check out the new facility during the Open House. Donna and her staff of talented instructors are providing free mini-classes every hour, along with dance demonstrations, music, magic provided by Magic Man Reggie Rice, food provided by the Hollywood Optimists and public safety displays from the Hollywood Fire Department and St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department. Residents will have the opportunity to take a class, speak to instructors and even register for fall classes for both adults and children.
A complete list of classes are available at www.thehouseofdance.org.
