As the 2011 Leading Edge CEO of the Year, Eric W. Franklin, is as dedicated to the ethics that have made his business strong, as he is to getting ahead. Erimax, founded 10 years ago in 2001, was created to provide management consulting for the various needs of their clients.

About his business, Franklin jokes, “We are a boutique of management consultants, “We make information work for people.” As a former employee of Nortel Government Solutions, Franklin gained the experience and contacts he needed to create his own business, and because of his character and work ethic, was able to grow that business to the worldwide company it is now.

“I don’t know a successful business owner that doesn’t work an excess of 8 hours,” said Franklin. “Any business person whose number one goal isn’t to make money, their business is just a hobby.” Franklin explains that although he wants his business to make money, he recognizes that with the profit he makes, it is not just for him. Franklin gives back to the community by supplying more jobs for local people living in Calvert County.

“The industry that we are in is not very recognized in the Southern Maryland region, besides at Pax River,” said Franklin. “We are an industry that is growing.”

As a growing industry, Erimax is able to hire more consultants and employees from the Calvert County area, where Erimax is based out of in Dunkirk. Even though Erimax is a world wide consulting service, Franklin tries to hire as many of his over seventy staff from local counties.

As an employee at Erimax, Franklin looks for people with integrity and ethics much like himself. Franklin prides himself on doing what the things that he says he is going to do in a timely matter and expects his employees to do the same. He also creates a positive working environment by encouraging open communication. “I require my employees to have the characteristics that give customers the idea that they are working with them,” said Franklin.

As a reward for his diligence and attention to his customers, Erimax has grown consistently over the past ten years with a steady growth pattern and still maintains an contract with the first business they ever consulted for. “We continue to build on our clients, we don’t do anything to jeopardize the security of our employees, the work may run out, but much of our work is more long term,” said Franklin.
