ย The League of Women Voters of St. Maryโs County will hold two consensus meetings in March. One is the result of a national study on changes in agriculture and their effects, and the other will feature the election process, which the Maryland League is sponsoring.ย
What is a consensus study?ย ย League study items begin at convention meetings on the local, state or national level.ย A League member proposes a study of a particular issue.ย If the proposal is accepted, a study committee is formed to explore the topic and then write a โfact sheetโ of their findings followed by questions for all members to discuss.ย ย Members are expected to have read the material before a consensus meeting and to participate in the discussion.ย
Active participation in League consensus meetings is for members only.ย However, interested members of the community may attend to learn more about a subject and join in the discussion. Only members can vote on the questions.
The agriculture study will be Saturday, March 8 at 10:00 am in the Leonardtown Library and the election process study is scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at noon in Ye Olde Towne Cafe in Leonardtown. Lunch will be served to those who wish to order. If you are interested in attending either of these meetings, call Paula Pippin at 301-737-0790.
