
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions (UCAC) will hold its 22nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 20, 2026, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown from noon to 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Juneteenth, a national holiday, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates the nation’s diverse cultural heritage. UCAC’s 2026 theme is “Building on the Promise of Freedom for All.”
The celebration will begin at noon with a presentation of the colors, official proclamations, special awards and a living history performance by Ms. Story, Shemika Renee.



Live entertainment throughout the afternoon will feature Ni Dembaya African Dance and Drumming, Stone Pleasure, Get2Gether and additional performances by Ms. Story bringing women from history to life.
The event will also include commercial and nonprofit vendors, food trucks and activities for all ages. Children’s activities include crafts, face painting, balloon art, moon bounces and horseback riding. D.J. Errol Wyatt and the “Keep On Steppin” seniors will demonstrate R&B line dancing and encourage audience participation.
Admission is free. Bleacher seating will be available, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if desired.
