LEXINGTON PARK, Md โ€” A 50-year-old man was flown to a trauma center after a serious Lexington Park dirt bike crash on Saturday afternoon. The operator sustained significant back and lower extremity injuries in the single-vehicle accident.

St. Mary’s County Fire & EMS crews responded to the call around 2:42 p.m. on August 9, 2025. The incident occurred in the 20200 block of Poplar Ridge Road, near the intersection of Scriber Lane and Three Notch Road. First responders arrived to find the 50-year-old male victim with traumatic injuries.

The severity of the injuries prompted a large-scale emergency response. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics quickly determined the patient required a “Bravo 2 Flyout,” a high-priority medevac transport.

Crews established a landing zone for the helicopter at the nearby Spring Ridge Middle School. The patient was then airlifted as a Priority 2 patient to Capital Region Medical Center for advanced medical care.

Officials stress the importance of wearing proper safety gear, including a certified helmet, at all times to reduce the risk of traumatic injury. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
