AVENUE, Md. – On July 7, 2020, at approximately 12:11 a.m., Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department responded to a shed fire on Hodges Road in Avenue. While enroute, units were advised it was a detached garage with possible exposure issues to nearby homes.
Crews arrived on scene and located a single story detached garage fully involved.
Firefighters pulled two handlines to the fire and began to extinguish. Additional units arrived and assisited with extinguishing and overhaul. Units from Companies 1, 2 and 7 were held at the scene for a short time.
The fire was caused by a lightning strike during the severe storms. No injuries have been reported.
