Waldorf, MD โ€“ย A Charles County warehouse sustained damage early Tuesday morning, Aug. 16 when a lightning strike started a fire, state investigators reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze occurred at the Marjam Supply Company on Acton Lane in Waldorf at approximately 12:34 a.m.

โ€œThe fire was the result of a lightning strike along the roof of the warehouse,โ€ a deputy fire marshalโ€™s report stated. โ€œThe fire extended into one of the storage bays, however, it was extinguished by the sprinklers before causing significant interior damage.โ€

Damage to the 9,000 square-foot structure and its contents is estimated at $100,000. No injuries were reported.

Forty-six firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm fire and brought the flames under control in 20 minutes.
