On the night of January 16, 2013, the Newtowne Players at Three Notch Theatre in Lexington Park premiered the one-act play,ย Field Guide to the North American Ospreyย by local playwright Trish Cole.

The play subsequently went on to swept the Awards Ceremony during the Watermelon One-Act Play Festival held at St. Maryโ€™s College of Maryland June 2, 2013, garnering prizes for Ms. Cole, director Valarie Green, and best actress and actor awards for the husband-and-wife team of Missy and Michael Bell.

Now, this gem of a play heads off to Broadway as part of the 38thย Annual Samuel French, Inc. Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival.

Field Guide to the North American Ospreyย is one of only 30 plays chosen from close to 1,000 entries to be performed in New York. Out of these 30 plays, only six finalists will be chosen by Samuel French, Inc. to be published.

Field Guide to the North American Ospreyย is scheduled to be performed at the Clurman Theatre on 410 W. 42ndย Street in NYC atย 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24. (The play was also an entry in the 2013 Maryland Community Theatre Festival held onย Saturday, January 19ย at Chesapeake College on Marylandโ€™s Eastern Shore for which Ms. Cole received an Outstanding Achievement in Playwriting Award.)
