Dan Boyer, 47, Feb. 2. Choral teacher at Huntingtown High School. Previously taught at Patuxent High.

Jesse Reid Sr., 84, Feb. 24. First African-American to serve as a Calvert County commissioner.

Perry G. Bowen, 90, March 9. Retired Calvert County Circuit Court judge.

Wayne Swann, 78, April 25. Former Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative chief operating officer.

Russell Tarleton, 55, May 7. Bay District Volunteer Fire Department life member.

Kevin Kamenetz, 60, May 10. Candidate for Maryland governor who was serving his second term as Howard County executive.

Theodore Sophocleus, 79, June 8. Member of the Maryland House of Delegates from Anne Arundel County.

Harold Rodney Thompson, 77, June 14. Former St. Maryโ€™s County commissioner who was well known as an auctioneer and Gospel singer.ย 

Wendy Elizabeth Gibson, 37, June 29. Avenue resident who was serving as captain of the Seventh District Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Douglas Lee Medley, 74, July 7. Bay District Volunteer Fire Department life member and 2006 Firemenโ€™s Hall of Fame inductee.

William โ€œHoofโ€ Mattingly, 80, July 13. Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors member.

Nole Remagen, 42, July 17. Dunkirk resident who served in the Secret Service. Remagen died in Scotland while serving on President Trumpโ€™s security detail.

Joyce Lyons Terhes, 78, July 25. First Republican woman elected Calvert County commissioner. Former Maryland GOP chair.

Joseph โ€œPeteโ€ Barbour, 85, July 29. Life member of the Charles County Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Joe Parker, 66, Sept. 6. Former owner and operator of the unique Prince Frederick Newsstand.

Joseph D. Tydings, 90, Oct. 8. Former U.S. senator who represented Maryland from 1965 to 1971.

Betty Lou Fowler, 85, Nov. 5. Wife of former state senator Bernie Fowler and matriarch of notable local family.

Leonard E. Copsey, 98, Nov. 7. Opened the Drift Inn Crab House in 1946. It was St. Maryโ€™s Countyโ€™s first crab house.

Cindy Collins, 51, Nov. 15. Lifetime member of the Indian Head Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Linda Reno,72, Nov. 15. St. Maryโ€™s County historian and author of two books.

Joseph โ€œJoeโ€ Arthur Cooper, 81, Dec. 22. Maryland State Firemenโ€™s Association 2002 Hall of Fame inductee.
