POMFRET, Md. — A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday after becoming trapped beneath a lawn tractor in Pomfret, prompting a medevac transport.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:27 p.m. July 31, 2026, to the 4400 block of Camelot Drive for a reported child trapped under a John Deere lawn tractor.
Initial information indicated the child had been running when he slipped on the grass and slid beneath the tractor while it was turning. The tractor was shut off before first responders arrived.
Crews requested lifting airbags to free the child and established an incident command while additional fire, rescue and emergency medical units responded.
The boy was extricated shortly before 4:55 p.m. Emergency personnel reported that he suffered a severe laceration to his abdominal area.
Maryland State Police Aviation Command’s Trooper 7 transported the child to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for treatment.
