St. Mary’s College of Maryland has a 361-acre waterfront campus that’s on the banks of a broad bay-like bend in the St. Mary’s River in the heart of the Chesapeake Bay Region. St. Mary’s City was a former colonial town, as well as Maryland’s first colonial settlement and capital in the 17th Century. SMCM is Maryland’s first public honors college.
The local maritime activities are definitely taken advantage of at St. Mary’s, considering more than 150 all-American sailors, six Olympians, and two Rolex Yachtswomen of the Year are among the college’s alumni.
